my parents surprised me by showing up at 9am this morning (after I had a late, somewhat wild night), so it ended up being a Team Kruemmling work day. Philly protests Prop 8. I'm thinking we had at least 2000 people out there... when we took over the streets around City Hall (peacefully but without a permit), we ringed the whole building at least 10 deep. Luckily, today's forecast of 100% rain turned into a warm, sunny day instead. This march was completely grassroots and it was national; we got NY Times and CNN coverage.

today I played tour guide for my parents and some of my German relatives. we had a lot of fun running around Philly, and I saw some historical sites that I haven't seen since I was a kid. since 1999 I've been singing with the Anna Crusis Women's Choir, the oldest feminist choir in the nation. it's been great. there have been tough moments, naturally, I've never seen a community group that didn't have its internal fights, but overall, it's been a pretty amazing experience. when I go back to school in July, I'll have to stop singing with them because Monday night is a class night.
